Why Are My Drains And Toilets Slow?

Plumbing problems are some of the hardest to deal with since you may not always know the cause. You never know how to fix the issue until it becomes so bad that you need to call someone. Here are some reasons that you may be having issues with your drains and toilets; contact a plumbing contractor if you find any of these maintenance issues.

A Clog

A clog is the common issue that causes drains and toilets to be slow. However, there are different reasons that a clog develops in your plumbing. Some examples include hair and soap scum, tree roots, and random items.

Hair and soap scum are the main culprit for slowing down your drains. Most people tend to shave in the shower or at their bathroom sink, which is normal. However, the pieces of hairs may attach to soap scum. The soap scum may be developing in your drains due to the mix of hard water reacting the chemicals of your hand soap. The soap scum only gets worst when introduced to pieces of hair. This issue may require the help of a plumbing contractor since the clog can develop deep within the pipes.

Tree roots have also been known to cause problems deep within your plumbing. Since tree roots are naturally inclined to find a source of water, they often grow into pipes. The growth of the roots can eventually cause clogging to your plumbing system. In these cases, you cannot solve the issue on your own need to contact a plumbing contractor. They will be able to located the clog and repair your plumbing.

Another common cause of clogs includes random objects that have fallen into your toilet or pipes. The objects are usually small enough to fit into the plumbing but are too big to be pulled out by the plunger. A plumbing contractor will be able to help you remove the item from your plumbing.

Septic Tank Problems

In rare cases where your drains and toilets are slow, it may be caused by your septic tank. This is a sign that your septic tank is having trouble draining. However, you should not rule out a clog until there is a backup of water or waste. When water is backing up into the plumbing, it is a sure sign of a problem with the septic tank. Just get a septic tank inspection from companies like Clogbusters to be safe, since a septic backup would be quite a serious problem.
